Training Practicums
Overview:
The Psilocybin Facilitator Practicum is designed to offer students hands-on experience in both observing and practicing facilitation skills in real and simulated clinical settings as outlined by the DORA Licensing requirements.
The primary aim is to build students’ confidence and competence in facilitating psilocybin sessions, equipping them with the practical skills necessary to ensure their future sessions are both safe and effective for clients. Through this experience, students will gain a deeper understanding of the facilitation process and refine their ability to manage diverse clinical scenarios with professionalism and care.
The Center Origin 5-Day Experiential Psilocybin Practicum
Join us at The Center Origin for a transformative, hands-on 5-day psilocybin experience in Denver, CO, designed to deepen your understanding of classical psychedelics, explore innovative dosing formats, and provide an opportunity to develop facilitation skills in both real and simulated clinical scenarios. Within a small, supportive group of 12 participants, you will alternate between the roles of facilitator and participant, offering a rich experience for personal growth and professional learning.
This program is specifically structured to help students meet Colorado state practicum requirements for Natural Medicine Facilitator Licensure, while also building confidence and practical skills essential for conducting safe and effective psychedelic sessions. The training ensures that future facilitators are equipped to lead sessions that promote well-being and safety for all participants.
The Center Origin Outreach Program Practicum
This practicum pathway combines The Center Origin’s values of safe and effective service provision and training with increased accessibility of these services to all members of our community regardless of socioeconomic status. Learners have the opportunity to be assigned to 5 participants eligible to receive reduced-cost services through The Center Origin’s Outreach Program and will provide services under the close supervision of a Licensed Clinical Facilitator. For each assigned participant, Learners will be expected to attend and co-facilitate one preparation session, the administration session, and one integration session (about 8 hours with each participant) to fulfill the 30-hour administration requirement and total 40-hour practicum requirement. Learners do have the option to be a Participant in this program as one of the 5 assigned Participants for their practicum completion.
Why Choose The Center Origin’s Practicum Training?
The Center Origin’s practicum is designed to complement the 150-hour didactic education required for natural medicine facilitator licensure, making it the ideal training site for students who have completed their didactic requirements to complete the 40-hour practicum portion of their training. We have partnered with Colorado-, Oregon-, and Canada-based DORA approved training programs to ensure a seamless transition from coursework to hands-on experience.
While the primary focus is on students pursuing licensure, we welcome individuals who are not seeking certification but are interested in immersive, experiential training. Non-licensure participants can enroll as students in the practicum and receive a certificate of completion from The Center Origin*.
*The Center Origin is not a fully-licensed training program and The Center Origin practicum certificate of completion in the absence of a completion of didactic requirements through an approved training program does not qualify a participant for Natural Medicine Facilitator Licensure.
Key Features of the Experiential Practicum:

-
Comprehensive Roles: Alternate between the roles of facilitator, observer, and participant within a 12-person group for a deeper learning experience.
-
Licensure-focused: Designed for those pursuing Colorado facilitator licensure, but open to all who wish to deepen their knowledge and skills.
-
Safe, supportive environment: Engage with psilocybin in a growth-oriented setting (use of psilocybin is optional but encouraged for those intending to provide future facilitation services and those seeking to build a personal relationship with the medicine).
-
Consultation Opportunity: Students pursuing licensure can fulfill the 40-hour consultation requirement with their practicum supervisor at a discounted rate if booked at the time of enrollment.
Important Details:
-
In-person attendance: Physical presence is required to meet Colorado’s facilitator licensing requirements
-
Psilocybin use: The Center Origin believes the safest and most effective facilitators are those that have a personal understanding and familiarity with non-ordinary states of consciousness (NOSC) induced by plant medicine; we strongly encourage practicum students to take this opportunity in a safe, supportive, and growth-oriented environment to lay the foundation of their personal relationship with the medicine, though psilocybin use is not mandatory for any practicum participant.
-
Licensure requirements: To be eligible for full-scope licensure in Colorado, students must complete the 150-hour didactic education requirement prior to participating in practicum and complete the 40-hour consultation and supervision requirement after participating in practicum.
-
Outreach Program Timeline: The amount of time it will take a learner to complete the 40-hour practicum requirement via the Outreach Program pathway is heavily dependent upon client availability and scheduling, thus a specific time period for completion cannot be guaranteed.
By participating in this training, you will not only fulfill state licensure requirements but also gain the practical experience and confidence necessary to lead safe, effective psilocybin sessions as a future facilitator.
